First time moms.

From questions about the first bath to the complex emotions of the transition to motherhood, your doula will affirm your choices as you welcome your new baby.

Sibling care.

Becoming a big sister or brother is joyful but challenging! Your doula can answer your sibling adjustment questions, prepare snacks and age appropriate activities, and serve as a companion during this important time. Get-to-know-you visits before the birth can be arranged.

Pregnancy bedrest and antenatal care.

Sibling care, practical support (meal preparation, errands, laundry and other household help) and affirming emotional support can be critical to putting your mind at ease when on pregnancy bedrest, or when the or when the normal course of pregnancy leaves you needing more care and support in your home.

Twins, triplets, and more.

All of the joys – and challenges – of parenting are multiplied when you bring home more than one baby. Your doula brings specialized training and experience with multiples to help you meet your breastfeeding goals, keep the household functioning, and start to make sense of their unique rhythms. Families tell us the extra pair of experienced hands is invaluable.

Postpartum depression and perinatal mood disorder support.

Moms at risk of or experiencing postpartum depression and perinatal mood disorders need compassionate and knowledgeable support. Our doulas are trained by mental health professionals that specialize in perinatal mood disorders to identify mothers at risk, provide specialized services designed to meet the needs of families, and, if desired, partner with other care providers.

Adoption.

Birthways supports families as they grow through birth or adoption. Adopting involves its own adjustment challenges. Our doulas can help you adjust to life as a new family.
