[Our doula], especially in those first few nights, was an amazing support. Her encouragement, knowledge of breastfeeding and baby care, and peaceful nurturing presence was so valuable. Having her there so I could get some sleep was priceless. I am a better mom because of her!!
Perinatal Mood Disorders and Doula Care
This isn’t what you expected. If you or a family member are experiencing a mood disorder, this time can feel overwhelming.
You have probably begun to access professional support to aid in your recovery process. Psychotherapy or counseling, support groups and your physicians can all work together to meet your needs and help you find balance again. If you need resources, please call us. We can link you to mental health professionals both within our group at Birthways or other experts in the community.
Visit our Learning Center to read more about how a doula can also play a role in supporting you at home. The doula meets practical as well as emotional needs, and can communicate with your family and health care team to optimize your care plans.
