Survey of Birthways’ Postpartum Clients

On a survey sent to our clients after their care was completed, we asked a variety of questions both about the performance of our staff and how they felt the postpartum doula model of care impacted their experience.  From 2000-2010 we collected surveys that told us the following:

When asked if the postpartum doula had a positive impact on their outcomes, clients responded with the following:

  • 85% responded that the doula had a positive impact on breastfeeding success.
    * this included some respondents who did not intend to breastfeed
  • 97% responded that the doula had a positive impact on their parenting confidence.
  • 97% responded that the doula had a positive impact on their emotional wellbeing.
