Your Birthways doula offers nurturing support and guidance, affirming your choices as you welcome your new baby into your family.

Birthways’ care is flexible to meet your changing needs as a new or experienced mother. We will help you tailor a plan just for your family, which can include:

An expert source of information. New parents often experience information overload, with advice coming from family, neighbors, co-workers, and people in the checkout lane! We can provide you with research-based resources and guidance on postpartum and newborn care, and help sort fact from opinion.

Sensitive breastfeeding support. Your Birthways doula is a source of knowledgeable information and support based on your breastfeeding goals. In addition to your doula care, all Birthways clients have access to a breastfeeding warmline staffed by a board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC).

An extra pair of hands. Need some extra help while you connect with your baby or get a shower, nap, or to connect with other family or friends? Birthways doulas can provide sibling care, meal preparation, laundry and errands.

Newborn specialists. Your doula can field common questions about newborn wellbeing and knows which questions to refer to your health care provider. She is also an expert baby soother and can help with high-needs or fussy babies.

New parent specialists. Your doula is knowledgeable about postpartum comfort strategies, postpartum depression and other perinatal mood disorders and is an affirming and supportive presence. She understands that the first weeks are a time for new parents to gain confidence and get to know their new baby. She protects this important time for a family.

Specialized knowledge for special needs. Our doulas receive special training in supporting mothers with multiples, postpartum depression and perinatal mood disorders, adoptions, and other special circumstances.

All backed up by the Birthways team. Knowledgeable Birthways administrators provide 24/7 support to you and our doula community. If you or your doula have questions, need an emergency fill-in, or a resource – from playgroups to chiropractors to pump rentals – the administrators are here to help.
