Preparing for Breastfeeding

Our lactation team is happy to provide you with the resources and information you need to establish a satisfying and effective breastfeeding relationship with your baby(ies). We believe that mothers learn from their babies, and babies learn from their mothers in a wonderful unfolding in the first days and weeks. As lactation specialists, we support the process. 

We offer private consultation in preparation for breastfeeding as well as preparation packages, which include a Lactation Specialist coming to your home after your baby is here.  The one-on-one session with a Board Certified Lactation Consultant or Lactation Educator allows for a sharing of your health history or any special concerns that you may have.  You’ll not only gain an evidence-based foundation of understanding breastfeeding as a new mother, but you’ll have a plan for side-stepping common challenges.  Private consultations in preparation for nursing have been especially helpful for:

• First time mothers seeking greater confidence
• Mothers with prior lactation struggles
• Women with a history of breast surgery, injury, augmentation or breast reduction
• Mothers of multiples
• Women at risk for preterm birth or whose babies may be at higher risk for feeding difficulties

2 hours of private education and individualized consultation with a Lactation Educator                                                                                   

8 hours of postpartum care with Lactation Educators, addressing lactation questions while meeting all of your new parent needs.
