Our providers are professionals committed to supporting families in affirming ways. Unlike postpartum 'nannies' or 'baby nurses', doulas are experienced in all aspects of the childbearing year. We are a resource for your questions about your baby, mothering and fathering concerns, breastfeeding, postpartum concerns, sibling adjustment, and just about anything that can come up for you as a new family. We will help you with additional resources, and help you to get the most out of your other health care providers You are getting more than just an extra pair of hands to help with baby...your doula is an important resource for the first weeks/months.
Each day as a new parent will bring with it different needs and challenges. Your doula is flexible to meet your changing needs so that the postpartum time is joyful and stress-free. Some of the things that she can do to free you up to enjoy your baby and rest and nurture yourself are:
- Meal preparation
- Shopping or other errands
- Laundry
- Light housekeeping
- Childcare for siblings or newborn
- Help with setting up the nursery or preparing baby things
