[Our apprentice doula] was amazing. I really don't think we could have done this without her. She was so helpful in instructing me on positioning and breathing. She was calm, warm and encouraging. She helped me to have the labor I wanted. When I think about [our son's] birth, I feel proud, happy and amazed by what I was able to do. [Our doula] made this awesome experience possible for us and I will recommend her to friends and strangers in a heartbeat.
Arranging Services: Choosing the Right Doula for Your Family
The first step to exploring your labor support options is to call us! We’ll gather information – like your due date, your care provider, and any thoughts you have about the birth – so we can find the best possible match for you. (We keep all information in the strictest of confidence, and never share any data with marketing companies.) Of course, we’ll also start to get a sense of your personality, which is an important part of the “fit.”
We will then contact you shortly with introductions to doulas that we feel would be a good fit, send you bios that summarize the doula’s experience and background, and arrange free in-home consultations.
We carefully match doulas with families based on:
- Your preferences
- Overall experience level
- Specific experiences with your chosen birth facility and doctor/midwife practice
- Specialty in areas related to your needs
- Personality
- Budget
You are welcome to meet with as many doulas as you’d like given your due date and our availability.
Once you’ve found the perfect fit, we’ll handle the paperwork for you. And remember, Birthways administrators are always available to help out if you have questions.
Everyone I spoke to at Birthways before and after my son's birth helped me feel like there was a community of women who were genuinely interested in helping my family get off to a smooth start, both with the birth and beyond. I am so grateful!
