About the Director

Jeanette McCulloch is trained as a postpartum and labor support doula and is also an experienced La Leche League leader.  She is happy to answer your questions about your postpartum wellbeing, parenting questions, or provide breastfeeding support during times you are not scheduled to be with your doula.

Jeanette teaches classes both for Birthways doulas and the parent community on a variety of topics including: sleep theories; sling wearing; supporting fussy babies and their parents; and breastfeeding after return to work.

Prior to joining Birthways, Jeanette worked for Valerie Denney Communications, providing public interest public relations, including strategic media plans for non-profit groups with a focus on environmental issues, education, and health.   She has also worked for a nonprofit supporting women’s rights and a state legislator.  She enjoys the opportunity to continue her work supporting all women during this important phase of life.

Jeanette learned about Birthways from her midwife, who recommended Karen as her doula.  She was thrilled for the opportunity to work with the organization that had helped her have the birth she wanted.  When not helping new and growing families, Jeanette is wet felting, candlemaking, or otherwise crafting with her older daughter or trying to keep up with her young son.

Our Matching Process Image

[Our doula] was great. She respected my husband’s desire to be my coach and knew when to step back . . . She gave massage, tied my hair back, brought me ice chips, and really just helped meet all my needs. She made sure I was clear on decisions that were being presented to us and helped us make decisions without being biased.  It was a great experience.
