Care can be scheduled to meet your individual needs. For postpartum care, we have a four-hour shift minimum for day-time support, and you can schedule as little as one shift to help with breastfeeding, or full time for many weeks. We provide day and/or nighttime care. Families are encouraged to contact Birthways by the 27th week of pregnancy for labor support and/or postpartum care services. When you contact us, we will provide you with more information about our programs and help you determine what your needs might be. After you confirm your interest in labor support, postpartum care, or both services, we will arrange an in-home prenatal visit so that you may interview the doula and further identify your specific support and scheduling needs. These visits are a time to get to know the doula and to share your preferences for your birth or postpartum time. There are no charges for this initial visit.
